Artists from Jay-Z and 50 Cent to Pharrell have had successful runs with putting out their own brand of sneakers through Reebok in recent years. However, in my personal opinion, no one has made a shoe that can be fully respected by a sneaker addict. Sneakers that have been brought out by artists seem to be unable to make a huge dent in the sneaker world. Jay-Z & 50 Cent both took Reebok to new heights with their S.Carter and G-Unit brands but, where are they now or where were they the year before. It’s as if it came and went over night.

Nike has done collaborations with artists such as Fat Joe, DJ Clark Kent and Nelly. Recently Jordan has teamed up with Nelly for his own addition of Spikes( Shown in photo below), which came out right before Christmas. Kanye West teamed up with Bape for his own special edition with his Teddy Bear logo on it, but his new signature shoe with Nike called “Air Yeezy” is coming out in a another month or two. This shoe might be just what the sneaker addict needed for a fix. Nike has even started their huge promotional campaign for the shoe which features comedian Mike Epps, DJ AM and last year’s MVP Kobe Bryant, who shows off his new sneaker as well. Mike Epps challenges every one in a game of “Horse” for their sneakers which ends up getting him a pair of the “Air Yeezys” after he beats DJ AM. His next challenger becomes Kobe, just before he picks up the extra pair Kobe just runs off. Kanye might have put out an album that has not added up to his lastest music and sales, but starting off 2009 with his  “Air Yeezy” looks like he’s headed back in the right direction.
