Yesterday, Jay-Z’s publicity team went into overdrive to promote his upcoming album “Magna Carta Holy Grail.” Last week during the NBA Finals Game 5 of Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, Samsung released a three minute ad featuring the rap star in a studio, jamming with a cast of producers including legendary Rick Rubin, Swizz Beats, Timbaland and artist Pharrell Williams. At one point, Jay-Z is shown taking notes on a Samsung tablet device. More than two minutes into the three-minute video Samsung Electronics Co. tagline flashes across the screen: “The Next Big Thing.”
Samsung purchased 1 million copies of the rapper’s new album MCHG and will give it away to their users for free. But everyone knows Jay-Z is so damn cool, he gave his fans an extra treat. The head of his publicity team, Jana Fleishman, conducted a scavenger hunt via Instagram by posting pictures of certain locales in Brooklyn…then handing out books with the track listing once fans figures out locations and showed up, even though a few showed up late, Fleishman gave those lucky fans a copy of the book this morning.
Fans posted photos of their books on Instagram, and now the entire word has the names of the tracks that will appear on the album which hits store shelves July 7, while the Samsung’s users gets the VIP treatment of downloading it for FREE on July 4.

The track list doesn’t uncovered which songs have features– although Jigga Man was photograph in the studio with Drake, Raekwon, Nas, and Justin Timberlake there’s no confirmation that they’ll appeared on the album.
Everyone is speculating that the song title “Jay-Z Blue,” will be a sweet ode to the rapper’s baby girl , Blue Ivy, but he once trademark Jay-Z Blue as an official color and even rhymed about it on Young Jeezy’s 2005 single “Go Crazy”…..My favorite hue is Jay-Z blue, the rapper quoted. I guess we’ll have to wait until the album drops to figure it out, but knowing Jay-Z it might be the total opposite of what we all think.
Jay-Z also interpolated lyrics from the late, Kurt Cobain and Nirvana’s “Teen Spirit”, but it’s unclear which song the classic rock single will be used for. Cobain’s widower, Courtney Love, allowed Jay-Z to use the lyrics, “I’m letting Jay-Z use lyrics – Francis would freak [if she knew this.] Jay-Z’s huge and we’re friends. I mean we’re not besties or anything,” Love told HuffingtonPost.com in an interview that posted on Wednesday.
Well Jay-Z and his team have done it again….I’m so excited and I can’t wait until the album drop. Some people rap skills decrease with age, but Jigga seems to have magic powers because his rap skills get better with age. Kudos to all the lucky Fans!!!
