Kanye West Plead No Contest

 

Kanye West plead no contest to misdemeanor battery charge against a photographer at LAX, Through his attorney West entered his plea on Monday and did not attend the court hearing. He was sentence to 2 years probation, 24 anger management therapy sessions and 250 hour of community service. This crazy to me, not only did Kanye west did not show up to court and he got a slap on the wrist. Must be nice….. According to www.abcnews.com, the rapper did not reach a civil settlement and his plea cannot be used against him in a civil lawsuit.

 

For those who are unclear as to what happen, West was arrested back in July for assaulting a paparazzo Daniel Ramos, West was charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and grand theft. Ramos claimed West punched him and wrestled his camera to the ground during the scuffle. Ramos told the court; Kanye West should be in jail and that he is still taking medication for his injuries. "If I did what he did to me, I'd be behind bars", Ramos Said. "I was doing my job and he broke the law." The photographer claimed that he is fearful of retaliation because of a comment made by West on the "Jimmy Kimmel" show in October. When asked about the paparazzi, West had this to say, "It's not safe for you in this zoo. Never think that I'm not from Chicago for one second." In my opinion I strongly doubt that was a threat to him and I am sure Kanye has better thing to do than to go back for retaliation. Ramos is suing Kanye and attended Monday's hearing accompanied by his lawyer, Gloria Allred. Prosecutors declined to file felony charges against West, but city prosecutors decided to pursue misdemeanor charge. Each count carried a penalty of up to six months in jail or a $1000 fine. Kanye West was arrested in September 2008 after another scuffle with a photographer inside the LAX terminal, but that charge was dismissed after completing his anger management treatment and agreed to pay the photographers equipment.
